Why Companies Ship Mattresses in Boxes
Over the past 15 years, technological developments have completely changed the mattress industry. Mattresses can now more commonly be delivered through residential mail services, largely due to the invention of machines that compress and roll-pack memory foam and hybrid mattresses. With each year that passes, we find that even more customers peruse a constantly growing selection of mattress companies from the comfort of their home. It is no wonder that more and more mattress companies are skipping the process of home delivery and shipping boxed mattresses directly to consumers.
How the Mattress in a Box Got Started
In 2004, the founders of BedInABox® developed the first prototype machine designed to compress and pack a mattress into a box small enough to ship. The first mattress in a box was successfully shipped through standard residential ground service and delivered in 2004. BedInABox® and BedInABox.com were launched soon after, making us the first mattress company to offer nationwide mattress delivery through standard shipping. Over the last 15 years, more companies have started offering mattresses in boxes and mattress delivery through their online stores.
A Revolution in Bed and Mattress Shopping
The ability to sell a mattress online and deliver it through standard ground shipping was revolutionary when we first started. These capabilities make it possible for us to offer affordable mattresses with free shipping. On top of that, we can provide our customers with a convenient online shopping experience where they can browse bed frames, sheets and pillows in addition to our mattresses, without ever leaving the comfort of their home.
After our early success in mattress delivery, BedInABox® has led the industry in crafting this customer-centric online shopping experience. At BedInABox.com, our customers are treated to one of the largest online selections of mattresses and sleep essentials, including six different mattress models, a variety of bed frames, and an abundance of sleep accessories. Add in our top-notch customer support team, and we make it easy for everyone to find the right mattress and sleep essentials for high-quality, comfortable and restful sleep.
At BedInABox®, we also offer instant financing as a payment option through our partner, Affirm. Not only can you buy now and pay later, but you can also be instantly approved for your financed purchase through our online store.
And if that wasn’t enough, we also use our online shop to offer a variety of sales and discounts throughout the year. You can usually find special savings around holidays, when we often run seasonal discounts on our mattresses. We even offer various bundle discounts year-round. The bundle we are currently offering is called our Custom Comfort Bundle, which includes either the Azul™ or the Tranquillium® mattress, and an adjustable bed frame, both at 30 percent off.
Where Does BedInABox® Make its Mattresses?
All BedInABox® memory foam mattresses are entirely made in the USA. Unlike most of our competitors, we do not outsource any of our mattress production process. What exactly does this mean? We not only assemble our mattresses in-house, but we also develop all of the foam used to construct our mattresses under the same roof. Our entire production process happens in one location, a claim that most of our competitors cannot make.
Producing our materials and mattresses in the USA ensures the quality that our customers expect in a mattress. In fact, all of the foam used in BedInABox® mattresses is CertiPUR-US® certified. This means the foams that we develop for our memory foam mattresses have been tested and are safe to sleep on. We also make the only USDA Bio-Preferred® memory foam mattress on the market, the Eco-Lux®. This USDA certification confirms that our Eco-Lux® mattress is actually made with 34% renewable materials. Mattress companies who do not hold some of these same standards may very likely produce low-quality memory foam mattresses overseas and then import these products to their U.S. warehouses. Worse yet, some of our competitors claim to make their products in the USA but use imported memory foam.
At BedInABox® we are proud of our history as the first mattress company to offer a mattress in a box and mattress delivery through standard ground shipping. We also take pride in the quality of both our products and services, which is why we continue enhancing the services we provide to our family of sleepers through our website. We value high-quality craftsmanship, which is why we produce and assemble our products in the USA and we work tirelessly to meet the rigorous production, handling, and labeling standards required to sell a safe, certified product that will bring your families comfort for years to come.
