Mattress Construction
The BedInABox® Eco-Lux® mattress is a medium-firm memory foam mattress, built with two layers of
renewable memory foam. At 11 inches thick, with a 3” BioLux® memory foam comfort layer and 8” of
high density BioLux® support foam, it provides sustainable support and comfort no matter your sleeping
position. Both the memory foam components of the Eco-Lux® and the organic cotton mattress cover are
100% made in the USA, compared to Avocado mattress components, which are manufactured
in India and Guatemala, then imported to and assembled in the United States. Avocado mattresses
are built with natural latex foams that are developed in manufacturing plants co-owned by Avocado
in India or Guatemala. The Avocado mattresses are then topped with organic cotton and wool
blend mattress covers, also sourced from India, to provide a firmer level of support, ideal for back or stomach sleepers.
Sustainability
Both BedInABox® and Avocado actively make environmentally conscious decisions in the
day-to-day operations of business and manufacturing. In a market full of mattresses made with potentially
harmful materials to both the sleeper and the environment, BedInABox® chooses to manufacture our own
memory foams in-house to ensure that all of our mattress foams maintain the CertiPUR-US® Certification.
By using only CertiPUR-US® certified memory foams, we are promising you that our mattress foam is free
from harmful materials, low in Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), and has very little off-gassing odor.
In addition to using safe and clean memory foam in all of our mattresses, we introduced our most
eco-friendly mattress – the Eco-Lux® - which holds two additional certifications and is topped with
an organic cotton mattress cover that is also manufactured sustainably. We continually partner with
One Tree Planted, a 501(c)3 non-profit environmental organization based in Vermont that focuses on global
reforestation, through which we donate a percentage of every sale to plant one tree for every mattress
sold. While Avocado brand mattresses are not 100% made in USA, they are made with
sustainable materials. Avocado farms and harvests their organic materials, which are then
brought to facilities (local to their farming regions) and manufactured without chemicals that can be
harmful to humans, animals or ecosystems.
Certifications
The Eco-Lux® mattress is the most certified memory foam mattress on the market. The mattress cover
and all of the foams used in our Eco-Lux® have received the STANDARD 100 BY OEKO-TEX® certification,
meaning your entire mattress, from the organic cotton cover to the memory foam core, has been tested and
certified to be free of potentially harmful materials. The Eco-Lux® mattress also holds the USDA
Bio-Preferred® designation, being the first and only memory foam mattress on the market with this
certification. The Bio-Preferred® certification is a voluntary certification that maintains that the
entire mattress is made with 34% renewable materials, which means that 34% of the product is made with
biobased materials. By using biobased materials, we are actively reducing the environmental and health
impacts of product manufacturing. And like all other BedInABox® mattresses, the Eco-Lux® is made with
CertiPUR-US® certified memory foam, meeting all standards for content, durability and emissions. The
only certification of these three that an Avocado Latex mattress also maintains in the
STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEK® approval for their organic latex, cotton and wool, which means these three
materials have been tested to be safe from pesticides, allergenic dyes or other potentially harmful materials.

are also made in the USA. Their solid support and durability pair flawlessly with
BedInABox® mattresses. While Avocado offers sustainably made mattress foundations and
bedframes, they are globally sourced and start at a slightly higher price point.
