Foundations

BedInABox® currently offers a slatted foundation (Clever Connect™), a platform foundation (Platform BedInABox®), and 2 adjustable foundation options (MotionInABox® 1.0 and MotionInABox® 2.0).

Memory foam and hybrid mattresses require adequate support to maintain their structure. All of our foundation options are compatible with all of our BedInABox® mattress models, so you can choose the foundation that best suits your sleep needs.

A mattress is only as good as its foundation. When a mattress is on a flat, solid surface, it provides structural integrity that helps maintain the quality of the mattress itself. A slatted or solid base helps distribute weight evenly, adequately supporting the mattress and protecting it from degradation. From a sanitation perspective, a foundation lifts the mattress off the ground, providing height and protecting it from unwelcome pests, dust, and bacteria.

BedInABox® foundations can be used with any standard mattress size. However, we recommend pairing your Clever Connect™, Platform BedInABox® or MotionInABox® Adjustable with a BedInABox® mattress for your best sleep experience.

A traditional box spring is most often paired with an innerspring mattress and provides more give than a foundation. Inside a box spring are metal coils surrounded by a wooden or metal frame covered by fabric. Box springs should never be used with foam mattresses.

A foundation is any solid or slatted wooden or metal base that can be paired with any type of mattress.

A platform bed is best described as a bed frame and a foundation in one. The platform bed replaces the need for a separate mattress foundation, while raising the mattress off the floor like a regular bed frame.

A mattress foundation will support and enhance the comfort and firmness of your mattress. The structural integrity of the mattress will stay intact much longer with a foundation, keeping your mattress performing at its best for years to come.

Caring for your mattress foundation is easy. Simply lint roll or vacuum the upholstery and wipe down the wooden legs and any other smooth surfaces to collect any unwanted dust.
