BedInABox®, the Original Mattress in a Box

In the fall of 2004, a foam expert, a digital marketer and a machine builder with a wild idea got together in Johnson City, Tennessee to discuss the concept of putting a queen size mattress in a box that the freight companies would accept. Eighteen months later the mattress in a box industry was born from the imagination and leadership of Bill Bradley, the creator of that first machine used to put a BedInABox®! Yep… Johnson City, Tennessee, made in the USA from day one!

From the start, there has been a unique synergy between our foam and our quality - they have gone hand in hand. The goal was to select foams that were both comfortable and durable. Our partner NCFI, brought us the solutions we needed and our customers desired. Through collaborative efforts, we created the two foams that have been the backbone of our success - SureAlign® high density base foam and CoolRest® gel infused cooling memory foam. These, and all foams that we make for your beds, are CertiPUR-US® approved!

Our relationship with NCFI has remained strong and is a major reason for our growth since that first mattress was boxed in 2006. Quality and service have been the main cornerstones for that growth, which has culminated in awards and recognition from Consumer Reports and US News and World Report, to name a few. Through this entire period we have stayed true to our initial philosophy - Made in the USA, All The Way!

In August of 2018, we took our relationship with NCFI a step further, fully merging all of our operations into one of their 100,000 square foot buildings in Mt. Airy, NC. With this step, BedInABox® became the only major US based E-commerce mattress brand with foam pouring, mattress assembly and customer service all under one roof! We control the entire manufacturing process from start to finish and our people are here to help you through the entire shopping experience. Did you know that nearly every single one of our competitors do NOT manufacture anything themselves? In fact, they never even touch your bed!
